Lewis Brown Studio is a research-led design practice that seeks to elevate the use of digital making tools to an artistic practice.
Following a first-principles methodology of scientific enquiry, the role of the vectorised toolpath is deployed across a range of disciplines and mediums. This exploration results in a taxonomy of performative digital making processes, summarised as a multi-modal model making platform.
These manufacturing methods range from additive to subtractive processes, whilst also developing reactive workflows where the making process is no longer detached from the design process.
Furthermore, the autonomous flight of the drone is used as a vehicle to transpose vectorised movements from the model-scale to the landscape-scale, translated onto GPS space.
